The Morgantown Metro Area is home to about 195,000 people, 30,000 of which live in Morgantown proper, the home of West Virginia University. Morgantown has big-city amenities like Broadway theater, a $20+ million ballpark that houses a minor-league team and Big 12 ball games, a diverse food scene and an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. But we’re also proud of our small-town charm and warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Morgantown is closer than you think.

Our Morgantown campus is just 70 miles south of Pittsburgh and three and a half hours from Washington, D.C., with close proximity to several East Coast metros including Columbus, Philadelphia and New York City.

Morgantown is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities and scenic views. World-class whitewater rafting, skiing, hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing can be found within a short drive. The town sits along the bank of the Monongahela River and neighbors several state parks, including Coopers Rock State Forest and Ohiopyle State Park.

Morgantown ranked no. 20 in the "50 Best College Towns in America" by Best College Reviews.
